I’ll be honest: protein powder doesn’t generally excite me. I’ve tried a lot over the years and most of them taste the same. Some are downright awful with a chalky texture, strange sweetness, weird aftertaste, and formulations that are hard to digest. Thus, I’m often skeptical of trying new powdered protein. Every once in awhile I discover a brand that surpasses all expectations and I’m thrilled to share the amazing experience I’ve been having with Biochem.

An opportunity came up to work on a campaign with Biochem to help people achieve their health and lifestyle goals. I checked out their product line and was really impressed with their thoughtful ingredient bases and passionate mission around next-level living. Plus, their plant-based formulations were intriguing and unique. I opted to try their Vegan Chocolate Protein and Vanilla Mood Plant Protein +.

The Vegan Chocolate Protein is lovely. It contains no soy, no additives, and no artificial colors, flavors, or sweeteners. The protein is sourced from pea, hemp seed, and cranberry, the latter of which is very unique as an ingredient. There’s no cranberry flavor; simply a nice, smooth chocolate taste. It’s keto-friendly being low in carbohydrates and containing 0 grams of sugar per serving.

The second Biochem product I tried truly blew my mind. I opened up the Mood blend expecting a standard vanilla flavor. Instead, I was greeted with an unexpected floral flavor that I’ve never experienced before from a protein powder. This was delightful since I LOVE the taste of flowers like rose and lavender. My mood was instantly boosted; mission accomplished! Plus, this formulation contains ingredients like ashwagandha, which has been clinically studied with the potential to diminish occasional tension, stress, and tiredness. Yes, please! The protein is sourced from shiitake, organic pumpkin, and water lentils, which do not influence the flavor.

Both proteins taste wonderful mixed with water, blended into non-dairy milk, and added into recipes. I made a keto-friendly fat bomb with the Mood formulation and it was delicious! All it took was 1.5 tbsp protein powder, ¼ cup of nut butter (I used peanut butter and wished I had used walnut butter to make it extra incredible), and a pinch of salt. Blend together and chill in the refrigerator or freezer for a satisfying treat!
