Information I Collect:
To fulfill your order, you must provide me with certain information (which you authorized Etsy to provide to me), such as your name, email address, address, payment information, and the details of the product that you’re ordering.

Why I Need Your Information and How I Use It:
I rely on a number of legal bases to collect, use, and share your information, including:
- as needed to provide my services, such as when I use your information to fulfill your order, to settle disputes, or to provide customer support;
- when you have provided your affirmative consent, which you may revoke at any time, such as by signing up for my mailing list;
- if necessary to comply with a legal obligation or court order or in connection with a legal claim, such as retaining information about your purchases if required by tax law; and
as necessary for the purpose of my legitimate interests, if those legitimate interests are not overridden by your rights or interests, such as 1) providing and improving my services. I use your information to provide the services you requested and in my legitimate interest to improve my services; and 2) Compliance with the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use. I use your information as necessary to comply with my obligations under the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use.

Information Sharing and Disclosure:
Information about my customers is important to my business. I share your personal information for very limited reasons and in limited circumstances, as follows:

- Etsy. I share information with Etsy as necessary to provide you my services and comply with my obligations under both the Etsy Seller Policy and Etsy Terms of Use.
- Service providers. I engage certain trusted third parties to perform functions and provide services to my shop, such as delivery companies. I will share your personal information with these third parties, but only to the extent necessary to perform these services.
- Business transfers. If I sell or merge my business, I may disclose your information as part of that transaction, only to the extent permitted by law.
- Compliance with laws. I may collect, use, retain, and share your information if I have a good faith belief that it is reasonably necessary to: (a) respond to legal process or to government requests; (b) enforce my agreements, terms and policies; (c) prevent, investigate, and address fraud and other illegal activity, security, or technical issues; or (d) protect the rights, property, and safety of my customers, or others.

Data Retention:
I retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide you with my services and as described in my Privacy Policy. However, I may also be required to retain this information to comply with my legal and regulatory obligations, to resolve disputes, and to enforce my agreements.

Your Rights:
If you reside in certain territories, including the EU, you have a number of rights in relation to your personal information. While some of these rights apply generally, certain rights apply only in certain limited cases. I describe these rights below:

Access. You may have the right to access and receive a copy of the personal information I hold about you by contacting me using the contact information below.
Change, restrict, delete. You may also have rights to change, restrict my use of, or delete your personal information. Absent exceptional circumstances (like where I am required to store data for legal reasons) I will generally delete your personal information upon request.
Object. You can object to (i) my processing of some of your information based on my legitimate interests and (ii) receiving marketing messages from me after providing your express consent to receive them. In such cases, I will delete your personal information unless I have compelling and legitimate grounds to continue using that information or if it is needed for legal reasons.
Complain. If you reside in the EU and wish to raise a concern about my use of your information (and without prejudice to any other rights you may have), you have the right to do so with your local data protection authority.

Frequently asked questions

What does the inside of the bag look like?

Canopy Verde bags are designed to be very user friendly with lots of pockets. The interior of the medium to large bags generally look the same. This includes the totes, larger crossbody bags, backpacks, and weekenders.

The inside of the bag has a bright orange lining with one zippered pocket for valuables and two open pockets for sunglasses, keys, etc.

What is vegan leather? How does it wear over time?

Our vegan leather is made with polyurethane, which is better for the environment than other substances like PVC. Polyurethane uses fewer solvents and chemicals in processing compared to PVC or leather. Furthermore, PVC leaches toxins into the environment and does not biodegrade.

We use a high quality vegan leather that wears well. Many customers report back that their bags remain in good condition after extended use.

What makes Canopy Verde bags eco friendly?

For our canvas bags, we use organic cotton certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), a trusted leader in the industry. This means we know with 100% confidence that our organic cotton does not have the toxic pesticides and fertilizers that are common in conventionally grown cotton.

We thought that using conventional, chemically-processed dyes on organic cotton would defeat the purpose of going organic. So all the dyes used in our canvas collection are chemical free and earth friendly. And using PVC-free vegan leather as opposed to animal leather leaves a smaller carbon footprint.

How do I care for my Canopy Verde bag?

For any dirt or dust that may have accumulated on the surface of the cotton canvas, scrub gently with a soft bristle brush, water, and a dab of detergent. For heavier stains like chocolate, rubbing alcohol can be very effective! Use a soft brush and scrub gently until the stain is removed.

Do not submerge the bag in water or throw it in the washer - this may cause the colored fabric to bleed and result in the bag losing its distinctive shape!

You can also spray a coat of Scotchgard Fabric Protector over the canvas to keep it looking fresh and new.

Wholesale availability

All our products are available for wholesale. If you are interested in a wholesale order, please contact linda@canopyverde.com for a link to our linesheet.

Gift wrapping and packaging

If you are buying a Canopy Verde bag as a gift (so thoughtful of you!), we can gift wrap the item and include a blank note. If you have specific requests, please convo me.

We also sell gift certificates!

Are Canopy Verde bags water resistant?

Our vegan leather bags are water resistant and can be cleaned with a wet cloth or wipe. With our canvas and vegan leather styles, a little water will not hurt the bag, but carrying it in a torrential downpour is not recommended!

Can the Greenpoint backpack fit a 15" laptop?

This style works best with laptops that are smaller than 14" in width (not screen size) because with any laptops over 14" wide, the top of the bag won't fold over neatly. If used as a tote though, the bag can comfortably hold laptops up to 16" wide.
